Probat GN12

• Small to medium-scale commercial coffee roasting operations.
• Speciality coffee shops looking to roast their own beans.
• Coffee laboratories for sample roasting and profile development.
• Pilot plants for new coffee product development.

Typical batch capacity

Units in this class typically handle batch sizes around 12 kg of green coffee.

Roasting method

Commonly a drum roaster, utilising convective and conductive heat transfer.

Heating source

Typically gas-fired (natural gas or LPG) for the roasting process, with electrical components for controls and motors.

Power supply

Electrical requirements commonly range from 230V to 400V, three-phase, depending on the specific configuration and market.

Cooling system

Units of this type usually feature an integrated cooling tray with an agitator and fan to rapidly cool roasted beans.

Controls

Often equipped with manual controls, though some units may feature semi-automatic or profile-based roasting capabilities.

Footprint

For this class of equipment, a dedicated space of approximately 2-3 square meters is typically required, not including green bean storage or roasted bean handling.

• What maintenance is typically required for a Probat GN12?

Regular cleaning of the roasting drum, chaff collector, and cooling tray is essential. Periodic inspection of burners, motors, belts, and bearings is also recommended to ensure optimal performance.

• Is installation complex for a used Probat GN12?

• What kind of ventilation system is needed?

• Are spare parts readily available for a Probat GN12?

Used roasters are valued for their durability and cost effectiveness in food processing operations. Buyers typically prioritise even heat distribution, temperature control consistency, and robust construction when selecting secondhand units. Industry sentiment favours roasters from established manufacturers known for reliable performance. Key considerations include maintenance history, heating element condition, and capacity matching operational requirements. Well-maintained roasters often deliver dependable service across coffee roasting, nut processing, and other food applications, making them sound investments for processors seeking to minimise capital expenditure.
