Toper TKMS-X5

• Small-batch coffee roasting for independent cafes and coffee shops.
• Specialty coffee producers requiring precise roast control for unique bean profiles.
• Pilot roasting for larger operations to test new bean varieties or roast profiles.
• Educational institutions for barista training and coffee science programmes.

Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, a 5kg roaster typically processes batches of 3-5kg of green coffee per roast cycle.

Power supply

Units of this type commonly require a 3-phase electrical supply, with voltage specifications varying by region, often 380-415V.

Heating method

Coffee roasters in this category typically utilise gas (LPG or natural gas) for the primary heat source, often supplemented by electric components for controls and fans.

Roast time

A typical roast cycle for a 5kg batch can range from 12 to 20 minutes, depending on the desired roast profile and bean type.

Cooling time

Integrated cooling trays on units of this size typically cool a batch within 3-5 minutes to halt the roasting process effectively.

Control system

Modern roasters like the TKMS-X5 commonly feature PLC-based control systems for precise temperature and airflow management, often with integration for roast profiling software.

Footprint

While specific dimensions vary, a 5kg roaster typically requires a floor space of approximately 1.5m x 1m, plus clearance for maintenance and operation.

• What maintenance is typically required for a coffee roaster of this size?

Regular maintenance typically includes cleaning the chaff collector, inspecting burner components, checking fan belts, and ensuring all safety interlocks are functioning. Annual professional servicing is often recommended.

• Can this roaster handle different types of coffee beans?

• What are the typical ventilation requirements for a 5kg coffee roaster?

• Is training usually needed to operate a roaster with a PLC screen and profiling software?

• What is the expected lifespan of a well-maintained commercial coffee roaster?

Used roasters are valued for their durability and cost effectiveness in food processing operations. Buyers typically prioritise even heat distribution, temperature control consistency, and robust construction when selecting secondhand units. Industry sentiment favours roasters from established manufacturers known for reliable performance. Key considerations include maintenance history, heating element condition, and capacity matching operational requirements. Well-maintained roasters often deliver dependable service across coffee roasting, nut processing, and other food applications, making them sound investments for processors seeking to minimise capital expenditure.
